Director, Professional Head Coach
With over 37 years of coaching excellence, Charissa is a TSA-registered coach known for her leadership in junior development and high-performance training. A former professional player with international college experience, she has led successful programs directed Mini Tennis SA, playing a key role in grassroots tennis development., coached the Western Province U10 and U12 provincial squads and served as chairperson of the Western Province Tennis Coaches Association. With decades of coaching experience to shape both athletes and fellow coaches.

Soussanna Coxson
Professional Coach
With over 42 years of elite coaching experience, Soussanna is a distinguished TSA-certified coach and former professional player in the USSR. She led the Armenian National Team, producing Davis Cup players and internationally recognized coaches. Her specialization in high-performance training, combined with a deep national and international track record, reflects a lifelong dedication to developing athletes at the highest levels of the game. Since joining Charissa in 2001, Soussanna has played a pivotal role in shaping young talent across our academies.

Mark Botha
National Instructor Tennis Coach
With 17 years of coaching experience, Mark is a TSA qualified National Tennis Instructor known for his passion for player development and fun, confidence-building coaching style. After beginning his career as Head Pro at a resort in Vermont, USA, he returned to South Africa and has since coached at various schools and a local club, producing 12 Western Province players. A former provincial player himself, Mark energy and dedication are loved by all his students. His motto is to help people realize their dreams and potential.

Bathabile joined our team in 2024 and is a passionate, reliable, and well-loved coach currently working toward full tennis instructor certification. He coaches across Charissa Balman’s School of Tennis, Kirstenhof Tennis Academy, Westerford High School, and brings energy, commitment, and positivity to every session.

Laura Le Sueur
Professional Tennis Coach
A former world No. 25 and South African Federation Cup player, Laura brings 48 years of elite coaching experience. As a founding member of the WTA, she has developed top international talent and led WP provincial squads for 19 years. Laura has been a key part of our coaching team since 2018, inspiring players with her expertise and passion.
